Pets and family fun on UTV’s
May 30, 2024

I have the best wife EVER.  My birthday was coming up and my wife asked what I would like to have for my birthday.  I told I have no idea.  One night, she looked over and said “how would you like to get one of these”? and showed me a pic of a CFMOTO UTV.  I thought, YES!  I have wanted one for quite some time, but, was sure she would never let me get one, let alone want to go ride in one with me.  Two days later, we went to the local dealer and picked one out.  The dealer tried to sell us alot of “extra” stuff, but, we declined as I was sure I could get it cheaper at aftermarket places.

The first thing I did when we got home, was search for a rear bed enclosure so we could take our dogs with us.  I found one that fit my requirement.  Its a Kemimoto bed enclosure.  I got that in 2 days and promptly installed it.  It fit perfectly and was super easy to put together.

The next day, we decided to go on our very first ride, WITH our dogs, Zeke and Zora.  Yes, 2 Rottweilers did fit in the back of the UTV.  The first thing I did  after loading them up in the back was just to start the vehicle and let them get used to the noise and vibrations of it running.  With a bit of reassurance from us, they seemed to calm quickly and were ready for their first ride.  We drove relatively slow just to get them used to riding in the UTV.  We were completely amazed that they actually laid down and and seemed completely at home with the wind blowing all around them.  We passed a few people and some dogs on our way to the actual trail we were going to ride and our dogs didn’t even care.  They were enjoying the ride too much.  Now, if you know our dogs, you would Zora is a bit hyper and is normally a ready to bark at any person or dog near her.  She didn’t have a care in the world about them.  I think we actually found something to calm her!  We were truly amazed.

Once we got on our trail we wanted to ride, I kept my speed down to around 15 mph not only for the sake of the dogs and my wife, but just to enjoy the scenery and all of us being together enjoying the experience. Riding at a slower speed allows me to look for the various wildlife we have around here.  We happened to come across a few beautiful elk and snapped a couple of photos.  We managed to put on about 30 miles that day and had a great time.

I will be honest, I never thought I would ever get a UTV or get my wife to ride in it, let alone, the dogs too.  With everyone enjoying the experience so much, we intend to ride much more often and explore lots more areas enjoying the great outdoors and all the natural beauty of our country.
