Your pets are your family, only better. Whether you are a cat owner or a dog owner, our animals are the most precious gift. They don’t judge, are always happy to see you, brighten even the worst days you have, and are our constant companions. They can bring a family closer together with activities that everyone can enjoy. They can also teach our human children things like responsibility by feeding them, caring for them and something as simple as taking them out for walks from early on in their years to adulthood.,
The reason we say these things is because we have 2 beautiful Rottweilers their names are Zeke and Zora.
Hence the name, Z and Z.
Since we have become empty nesters, they have become the children of our home and joys of our lives. You might say they rule the house, not us. I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way. Of course, they go everywhere with us. Since we have bought our 5th wheel trailer to camp in, we have found MANY things that we purchased to make not only our lives, but their lives more comfortable and make them think of it as a 2nd home. We have bought a fence system which fits inside the “basement” of our trailer that comes apart in sections and goes together in minutes to give the dogs a safe and secure place to play and just be outside without having to worry about them running away.
Additionally, if your dogs are anything like ours are, they are bashful and wont go to the bathroom on the leash. So the fence system made perfect sense to us. This fence we got is roughly 40″ tall and 42 feet long. We needed something big enough for 2 Rottweilers. I personally set mine up so that as they exit the trailer, the fence starts on both sides of the stairway so as they walk down the stairs so they automatically go outside without having to put a leash on them just to put them in their new fenced off area and it keeps them contained within the area.
For when they come in from the great outdoors, we purchased a special super absorbent, low profile animal mat for them to walk across while crossing the threshold of the trailer to keep the dust, dirt, mud, and other debris to a minimum when coming into the trailer. Its almost like magic how well these things work on taking mud and water off their paws.
To make your life and the life of your pets better, we also purchased a petmate replenish gravity waterer that holds one gallon of water so they can drink when they like and you don’t need to constantly fill a water dish that may be spilled over at any time by accident.
Of course, nothing is better than taking your fur baby for a walk in nature and taking in the sights. For us, taking 2 Rottweilers for a walk, can be challenging to say the least. We have tried numerous leashes and harnesses but, they were still pulling hard and taking ME for a walk. We finally found a dog head halter with a safety strap that has really fit the bill at calming them pulling on the leash while doing it safely and comfortably for them and of course, for me.
In conclusion, when taking your fur babies camping, the trick is to make you and your babies happy and comfortable. There is no right or wrong way, it is whatever works best for you.
